A quick look inside the 5th European Petanque
Championship for Women in Ljubljana 2010 with it's general
Sponsor SiteTalk
The brave idea to host a European Petanque Championship for Women in Slovenia, a small country with only 250 licenced petanque players, was born last year on a Slovenian Petanque Federation Executive board meeting.
Ten years of experience in Slovenia with this over 100 years old international sport and a few enthusiastic people with a great vision took the decision and worked hard for over one year on this project. Since I was at the same time getting to know all the benefits of our SiteTalk business, meeting with the management members and attending some great Unaico events in Europe, it struck me like a lightning – two visionary projects, both with strong leading people and both in need of publicity and branding, go well together. So this story began.
Management of Unaico has seen the opportunity and supported this event with a general sponsorship contract. Looking back it was a test ride for both parties. On one hand petanque was struggling to break into media in Slovenia and bring european confirmation to our young federation and on the other hand it seemd like a great opportunity for SiteTalk in Slovenia and Europe to have a feedback on branding through sportsman's eyes.Proud to say 30 European nations with over 200 team members and a few hundred spectators were able to get a glimps of SiteTalk and take a piece of it with them in the form of USB keys with SiteTalk desktop aplication and memorable photos from the event. We hade some good publicity on the biggest Slovenian commercial TV station POP TV, radio station VAL 202 and sports newspapers EKIPA.

Add to that over 40.000 hits on official EC web page and many more on different European Petanque Federation's web pages where pictures from competition are posted and we can conclude it was a job well done and cooperation well justified. The support of SiteTalk has enabled us to make a mark in the organising sense and set high standards for future organisers. All the thank you letters and words of gratitude from participants, 30 National Federation presidents andEuropean Federation Board members made us proud to be a part of this special and unique story and grateful to have a reliable partner SiteTalk by our side.
All in all – European Petanque Championship for Women 2010 in Ljubljana was a big success and for me personally a great honor to be able to combine two different and yet merging projects into one big experience and unforgetable memory for thousands of people from all arround Europe.
Thank you SiteTalk for your confidence, support and for believing in us!
